There were stalagmites hanging from the ceiling in most of these rooms.

Just FYI: Stalactites come from the ceiling. Stalagmites come up from the floor. Think little girls TIGHTS hanging on a clothes line and you'll never forget. I learned this HANDY piece of information and the trick to remember it at the Arizona Desert Museum in the man-made cave there when I was 11 yrs old. :-D ~ Leah
